Re-Establishment – Teaser

Sam Lee returns to the European Alps to chase his dream of qualifying for the Freeride World Tour. Last year, Sam suffered a major injury during the peak of his career. Re- Establishment is a story about Sam’s return to skiing post injury and about the challenging and rewarding moments he experienced along the way. The film follows Sam Lee for one year, from injury, through rehabilitation, to his first day back on the slopes and re-entry to competitive freeride skiing.

The feeling of riding pow again after 10 months off snow was pretty damn cool.

It was an icing on the cake moment for sure. My  first pow turns were on my 3rd day  back on snow and the first proper blower day was at Chamonix about a week in.

I was nervous heading off piste so soon after getting back on skis, but it actually proved to be much easier than trying to throw my fat skis around on the groomers.

It reminded me just how fond I am of skiing!’ Sam Lee

Re-Establishment is set to premier at The New Zealand Mountain film festival screening at 4pm, session 3 Adventure Matinee. Tickets are still available.

“Filming sam’s first days back on snow was like watching a dog run in powder for the first time. He was so excited and stoked, I was a bit afraid that perhaps I was influencing him to push his limits but Sam seemed to push these himself. It was impressive to see him recover and get back into it. What I liked the most about his recovery was his training program to condition his body and  this shows how much of an athlete he is. I first met Sam in 2011 at a freeride competition in NZ. His skiing has earned him the name ‘Ibex’ which he is somewhat proud of he finds a line through cliffs where nobody seems to look, it was a privileged to work with Sam on this film” Lachlan Humphreys / Clean line Productions
