The slopestyle course, which was built by the Snowpark LAAX crew up on Crap Sogn Gion mountain: an unique design in the contest circuit, packed with surprises and a perfect playground for new trick combinations. The set-up started with two jibb features offering the riders various possibilities for moves on rails, bonk and tube. This section was followed by the highlight of the 2015 edition, a four jump kicker-line.
After two solid runs Jossi Wells had to open the third and decisional heat. And he set a mark. The kiwi started with a right 270 on front 270 out and a switch left 270 back 270 out in the rail section, followed by a right 900 leading tailgrab, switch left doublecork 900 safety, left doublecork 1260 mute and switch right doublecork 1080 safety over the four jumps. The other 9 finalists didn’t reach his score of 85.16 anymore and after 2007 (halfpipe) the 24 years young Jossi earned his second European Freeski Open LAAX title. US rider Noah Wallace ended up second and smiled about his most important result all day long. Noah showed a right 540 nosetap on the bonk and integrated four doublecorks in a raw: doublecork 12 high mutegrab, switch right doublecork 900 safety, right doublecork 1260 safety, switch left doublecork 1080 japan. Oystein Bråten took third place showing a very stylish kicker combination right 900 leading tailgrab, switch right double cork 1080 safety grab, switch left doublecork 1260 mutegrab and left doublecork 1080 safetygrab. A very charming podium with riders from three continents – the EFO is back in the world’s high level contests.
In the women’s field, it was a battle for the victory between the strong Norwegian girls Tiril Sjåstad Christiansen and Johanne Killi, EFO champion 2014. Finally it was Tiril winning her first EFO title. She set the high score of 87.16 points on her second run with a front 450 of, followed by a front 270 of, starting the kickers with a switch left 540 safety to a right 720 leading tail and a left 540 mute ending with a switch right 720 leading tail. Second place got to Johanne (86.50), Isabel Atkins (UK, 79.16) ranked 3rd.
