Tim Cafe and Sarah Jarvis win National Slalom Champs

 Day two of the National Ski Championships took place today at Coronet Peak under blue skies with Tim Cafe and Sarah Jarvis being named National Slalom Champions for 2010.


Jarvis, of Whakapapa, was on a high going into the slalom race after winning the New Zealand Giant Slalom Crown yesterday and defending her title of National GS Champion.


The Mens race was won by Norways Lars Elton Myhre with a time of 1:38.20, followed by David Chodunsky (USA), securing silver in 1:38.78. Truls Johansen, of Norway, secured bronze in 1:39.03.

The womens race was won by Veronica Zuzulova, of Slovakia, in 1:36.22. Norways, Lotte Smiseth Sejersted secured silver with 1:36.68 while Aline Bonjour (SUI) secured bronze with 1:37.58.

Queenstowns Olympian Tim Cafe today became the 2010 National Mens Slalom Champion with a time of 1:46.40.

It was a challenging hill with a quality field, said Cafe, who finished 13th overall. Its great to come away with the honours.


Following Cafe, Adam Barwood, was the second fastest Kiwi, clocking 1:46.65, placing 14th overall. Harrison Steedman, finishing 16th overall in 1:53.52 was the third fastest Kiwi.


Jarvis, who placed 10th overall, defended her title becoming the 2010 National Slalom Champion with a time of 1:41.66.  Taylor Rapley followed, clocking 1:43.67 and finishing 15th overall. Lucie Tait-Jamieson was the third fastest Kiwi, with 18th overall and a time of 1:44.67.
