STAR STUDDED LINE UP FOR VOLKL OPEN SLOPESTYLE AND HALFPIPE

Countdown is ononly three days until the action begins

Two time Winter X Games Gold Medallist and number one ranked slopestyle rider, Bobby Brown (USA), is back to defend his Volkl NZ Freeski Open title and with most of the worlds top freeskiers competing this year, the event promises to be exciting.

Some of those hoping to knock Brown from the top of the podium are Byron Wells (NZE), Russ Henshaw (AUS), Elias Ambuehl (SWI ), Gus Kenworthy (USA), Henrik Harlaut (SWE) and Manuel Manca (SWI). 


The slopestyle qualifiers will be held Thursday, 5 August, at Cardrona Alpine Resort weather permitting with the finals scheduled for Friday, 6 August.

Saturday, 7 August will see the Halfpipe finals with another list of whos who in the world of freeskiing including defending champion, Taylor Seaton (USA), NZ national team member Byron Wells and AJ Kemppainen who is currently ranked third overall in the world of freeskiing.  Rumour has it that there may be a few more last minute surprises as well so stay tuned for updates! Due to injury NZs World Champion freeskier and number one halfpipe rider, Jossi Wells, will have to sit this one out.
