Jossi misses medal in Slopestyle but qualifies first for pipe finals at X
1st February 2010
Jossi Wells had a disappointing afternoon by his standards at X-Games slopestyle, failing to complete any of his runs cleanly, leaving him back in 7th place.
Bobby Brown took his second gold in as many days with more insane skiing, his run included a double cork 1260 and a switch double misty 1260. Andreas Hatveit took silver with Sammy Carlson in bronze.
However Jossi went straight to pipe qualifying and redeemed himself by taking out top spot. A combination of boosty amplitude, smooth riding and technical tricks led him to the top. His 900 to right 900 to 540 to 720 to switch 720 to alley oop flatspin 540 to 1080 scored him 91.33pts, USAs Simon Dumont ended in second place (89.33) and Frances Kevin Rolland (88.33) finished the day in third. The finals will be held tomorrow from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. MST (1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. NZT). Good luck Joss!!
Byron Wells also competed tonight skiing years above his age, boosting his last hit to the moon, only to have a his ski come off upon landing. While he didnt qualify, Byron turned more than a few heads tonight.
