Popular freestyle series kicks off Wednesday
The Cadbury Moro Slopestyle series for freestyle skiers and boarders is back and kicks off for the 2008 season this Wednesday, July 16 at The Remarkables. An Open and Junior section makes the event accessible to all age groups.
Josh Clark, Youth Action Sports Co-ordinator says Cadbury Moro Slopestyle is a really popular event that attracts lots of people and a good line up of sponsors and prizes.
“Ride Snowboards and Smith and Session outerwear provide prizes including cash and product, there’s food for competitors on the day from Motogrill and plenty of Moro bars to keep energy levels high.
“This is a great event for people to just have a go. They can watch the Parklife Rider Team and learn from them as well as going hard in the park for their own points and prizes.”
The Cadbury Moro Slopestyle is held in the UP & GO Terrain Park. Competitors need to register on the day before 10.30am at Guest Services for a $25 entry fee and $20 bib deposit. The Junior prize giving will be held on the deck at The Remarkables after the event while the Open prize giving will be held at The Buffalo Club from 8pm.
Now in its tenth year, the series involves four Slopestyle events over two months to be held in the park. Josh says The Remarkables is regarded as the home of Slopestyle and this series is fun and exciting for both competitors and spectators.
“Freestylers on snowboards or skis will use the terrain park features and rails as part of the Slopestyle line. It’s a great event for spectators who can watch competitors from the lift or from any vantage point along the side of the park.”
A cash and product prize pool valued at around $3,000 is on offer for each of the four events of the series and competitors can expect the UP & GO Terrain Park to be in excellent condition.
Following Wednesday’s event, the next in the series will be held on Saturday August 16.
