Great early season skiing and riding conditions at Mt Hutt

Heavy pre-season snowfalls and reasonable snow making conditions has Mt Hutt in great shape for early season skiing and riding according to ski area manager Dave Wilson.

“We’ve enjoyed a great week of sunny skiing and riding on a 35cm snow base. There are four beginner to intermediate jibs set up in the new High Country Terrain Park and the national ski team is training.  It may be a bit gloomy elsewhere in terms of snow conditions, but Mt Hutt is shining right now and the atmosphere is great.”

And more snow is expected over the next few days.

“We’re expecting a bit of a warm front before the weather really chills down to deliver storms over the next four or five days, so look out for a powder day within the next week,” he said.

Mr Wilson was looking forward to welcoming families to the High Country Ski Area during the school holidays (from June 27).

“We have several programmes available for kids at all levels from age 6 – 16, excellent learning facilities and a fully licensed Skiwiland crèche for the wee brothers and sisters.”

Mt Hutt opened last Sunday, June 15 with good skiing and riding from Summit to the base area.
