Cancellation Leaves Greig in 17th at Alpe d'Huez Skier Cross World Cup
14th January 2010
Alpe dHuez (14 January 2010) A disappointed Mitchey Greig placed 17th at the Alpe dHuez World Cup Race, based on her standing after the qualification runs.
The Race Organizing Committee cancelled the elimination rounds of todays event due to poor weather conditions, resulting in the times from the qualification runs establishing the final race results.
While still a great result for New Zealands top Skier Cross athlete, Greig expressed disappointment at the cancellation because she was confident that her results at the finals would have been even better.
I loved this course, she said. It was a bummer to have the race cancelled.
Kelsey Serwa (CAN) took home her first Gold on the World Cup Circuit followed by Ophelie David (FRA) and Ashleigh McIvor (CAN).
Greig has shown consistently good performance throughout this seasons World Cup circuit which bodes well for her Olympic debut.
She has met selection criteria for the Olympic team with a world ranking of 30th. The final obstacle for Greig on her path to the Olympics is confirmation from FIS of a nation quota spot for NZ in skier cross.
